Jenkintown Borough is seeking proposals for consulting services for design and engineering services needed for a master plan for the Jenkintown Library. All proposals presented will be in accordance with this Request for Proposals (“RFP” and/or “Proposal”) specifications. One (1) electronic copy of each proposal shall be submitted to and received by e-mail at glocke@jenkintownboro.com with the subject line as “RFP – Jenkintown Library Master Plan” on or before 4:00 p.m. on Friday, September 4, 2026. No hard copies are required.

A pre-proposal walkthrough will be conducted at 9:00 am, Tuesday, August 11, 2026 at Jenkintown Library, 460 York Road, Jenkintown, PA 19046. All questions concerning this RFP must be submitted by 4:00 pm, Friday, August 14, 2026, by e-mail to: glocke@jenkintownboro.com. No questions received after this date and time will be acknowledged or answered. All questions will be answered by addendum to this RFP by Friday, August 21, 2026. A consultant is also referred to as a proposer throughout the RFP.

This week’s curbside trash and recycling collection will not be affected by the Fourth of July holiday and will be collected as regularly scheduled on Friday, July 3rd.

Due to the forecast of excessive heat on Friday, Republic Services will be starting the curbside collection of trash and recycling one hour earlier (6:00 AM) than usual to help protect the health and safety of their workers. If you have trash or recycling to be picked up, please place it curbside Thursday night or no later than 6:00 AM Friday morning. 

Last evening, the Jenkintown Borough Council presented a commemorative plaque to Officer Anthony Matteo and his family. This presentation served as a posthumous recognition of K-9 Kane for his distinguished service in the Canine Unit from 2016 to 2020.

K-9 Kane, who passed away in April, was a dual-purpose service animal. He was expertly trained in narcotics detection and patrol operations, serving citizens throughout Montgomery and Bucks counties.

Join your neighbors and community on Monday, May 25 as Jenkintown VFW Post 1711 and the Jenkintown Volunteer Fire Department honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country.

The day begins at 9:00 AM with Mass at Immaculate Conception, followed by a wreath ceremony at the Veteran’s Monument in Town Square Park on Greenwood Avenue. Ceremonies will continue throughout the morning at Abington War Memorial Park, Forest Hills Cemetery, and Jenkintown High School before the parade steps off up West Avenue at 11:15 AM. The morning concludes with ceremonies at Borough Hall and VFW Post 1711 at the corner of Summit and Leedom, followed by a community luncheon inside VFW Hall at 12:30 PM.

This week highlights the essential contributions of public works professionals to communities.  National Public Works Week (NPWW) is an annual celebration organized by the American Public Works Association (APWA) to recognize the vital role public works plays in everyday life, including planning, building, managing, and maintaining infrastructure that supports communities

Established in 1960 and formally proclaimed by President John F. Kennedy in 1962, NPWW emphasizes the importance of public works for national health, welfare, and community development.

The theme for 2026 is “Rooted in Service, Powered by Community”, reflecting the deep impact of public works on community life. It acknowledges both visible projects, like roads and bridges, and less visible contributions, such as water and sewer system maintenance, which together form the foundation of thriving communities.

The Borough Public Works team is comprised of seven people with a total of over 50 years’ service to Jenkintown Borough. The PW Team consists of 1 – Foreman, 4 – Driver/Laborers 1- part time seasonal laborer and an administrative assistant who all work very hard to ensure that Jenkintown is a great place to live, work and visit.  Some of their duties include special pick up and yard waste collection, road maintenance, street sweeping and leaf collection, salting and snow plowing, infrastructure, fleet maintenance, traffic and street light maintenance and much more.
